Yes! We are building North America’s first fully digital hospital right here for you, your family, and your community. Sounds impressive, but what does it mean?
Digital technology will be used to connect systems with systems and people with people. Every system in the hospital will be electronic and integrated together. We will use wired and wireless networks, electronic medical records, digital images, electronic control systems to run the building, digital communications such as email, video conferencing, and instant messaging.
In addition to tablets and computers, we will deploy technologies that will help with automation. These technologies are digital, but are also mechanical. Examples include Automated Guided Vehicles (that deliver and process equipment such as instruments and linens), lab analyzers and drug dispensing systems.
The resulting integrated system shares information across the system, to all appropriate users, in real time improving efficiency, accuracy, reliability and safety. Ultimately, this all leads to better communication, better awareness, instant access to the right information and automation of activities. Most importantly, hospital staff and physicians will have more time to spend with patients and focus on better quality of care.
We are maximizing digital technology to enhance patient care in ways not done previously and the possibilities expand every year. It’s about our patients and their families and revolutionizing the care we deliver to them and our community.
