Tell us a little about yourself!
My name is Ashley and I am proud to be working at Humber River Hospital Foundation. In my time at Humber I have had the opportunity to work some amazing staff who make Humber the amazing place that it is. I am lucky to work at Humber where my passion for events and fundraising can come together each and every day.
In one sentence, how would you explain your job to a friend?
To make things easy, I always say that I raise money for Humber River Hospital through events and fundraising.
Is there a Program of Care you have a personal connection to?
I love the Surgery Program here at Humber. I have a close connection to orthopaedic and vascular surgery as my dad faced a life-changing vascular surgery last year, and his recovery and surgery process was inspiring to me. I am so thankful for surgeons who do this amazing work for their patients. It allows them to continue living their lives as best as possible.
What are the three most interesting pieces of technology at Humber?
I am so thankful to work at North Americans most digital hospital. To me that is already so interesting. More specifically, the Command Centre, Pepper and the AGV’s (Automated Guided Vehicles) which reinvent patient care each and every day for our community and the patients that we serve.
Do you have a favourite project?
My favorite project to date is the new grateful patient program called Gifts of Gratitude. It provides Humber staff an opportunity to be given a special recognition pin and a personalized card when they receive a donation in their name for the great work that they do for their patients and their families. I love being able to connect with both the patients and staff when someone makes a Gifts of Gratitude donation!
What is one awesome thing you’ve done in the last year?
At Christmas I went to Collingwood with my fiancé, where he popped the question under the Christmas Light Trail in the Blue Mountain village. We have been together for close to 8 years and he brought me back to where it all started! We are both really excited for our wedding in 2020.
What inspires you?
Being able to work in a hospital setting where doctors, nurses and staff display their compassion for their work each and every day! For me, it is such an honour to hear people’s stories and how Humber has been there and helped them along their healthcare journey here.
