TODAY/ CHALLENGE

Our community is comprised of an older, more marginalized population with a higher prevalence of chronic diseases. Our Apotex Emergency Department is the busiest in the province, caring for over 350 patients every day last year. Like many hospitals across Canada, we face the challenges of overcrowded emergency rooms and longer wait times.

We are the busiest single-site emergency department hospital in Ontario. We see between 350 and 400 patients per 24-hour day. And with that, we need to ensure that everyone’s condition is seen, that they’re treated with respect, dignity and most importantly, delivering a standard of care to them that is top notch.
