Introducing the IC Savings Heritage Display
This week, our Hospital is proud to open the IC Savings Heritage Display, an interactive tribute to our community hospital’s significant history.
The story of Humber River Hospital is as rich and diverse as that of the community we serve. From the early days when Humber River Hospital was actually 3 smaller neighbourhood hospitals (Finch, Keele, and Church sites), generations of individuals, bound by a sense of service to others, strove to make life better for patients and their families. Theirs is a story of compassion and dedication; a tradition of which we are all proud and honoured to inherit and keep alive at Humber River Hospital’s Wilson Site.
The IC Savings Heritage Display is a digitally interactive room full of old photos, artifact exhibits, and historical timelines that stand as a tribute to our legacy and the people who created it.
Learn about the rich history of Humber’s volunteers , the donors who contributed to our sites, our programs and special initiatives like Humber’s robotics program and Humber’s own Dr. Awesome.
Our predecessors will always be part of the Humber River Hospital story.
The IC Savings Heritage Display includes:
- Built-in seating for visitors
- A “Did you know?” flip-up heritage game
- A large interactive touch table that includes many stories of the people who have had an impact at Humber River Hospital, with the ability to tag people
- Our Milestone Display, including key stories told through artefacts, and historical images
Our Thanks
This center has been generously supported by IC Savings, a longtime friend and community partner of Humber River Hospital. Thank you to the entire IC Savings team for helping us bring our tribute to Humber River Hospital’s history to life.
Many of the artifacts in the IC Savings Heritage Display were provided by Dr. Charles Bull, a Humber Surgeon who, on retirement, contributed items from his years of practice and his involvement with the Canadian Olympic Team. His sole request was that these items be displayed as part of our heritage.
