For Parish Bhumgara, philanthropy is a personal commitment shaped by his life experiences and desire to make a lasting impact. As an associate at Gardiner Roberts LLP and founder of Affordable Bar Prep Inc., he is dedicated to supporting healthcare initiatives that resonate with his own story.

Parish’s connection to Humber River Health Foundation began when he saw a social post from Planned Giving Advisory Committee Chair, Mark Halpern, inviting young professionals to join Rising Philanthropic Leaders (RiPL). Moved by the opportunity to support healthcare in his community, he quickly reached out. Just days before, Parish had lost his father, who passed away in an ICU. The time spent by his father’s side gave him firsthand understanding of the vital role intensive care units play for patients and families.

A conversation at All In For Humber with fellow RiPL member, Zakary Wexler (right), sparked the idea of making a gift with a long-lasting impact. “It’s one of the simplest ways to make a lasting impact,” says Parish.

At All In For Humber, a RiPL fundraising event in support of Humber’s ICU expansion, Parish shared his story, speaking about his father’s journey and its impact on him. His words underscored the importance of advanced ICU facilities that provide comfort during challenging times.

Inspired to honor his father’s memory, Parish decided to donate his life insurance policy to Humber River Health Foundation. A conversation with fellow RiPL member and insurance advisor, Zakary Wexler, sparked the idea of making a gift with a long-lasting impact. “It’s one of the simplest ways to make a lasting impact,” he says, reflecting on how his gift will help families facing similar challenges, ensuring the Hospital continues to innovate and provide life-changing care for generations.

By choosing to leave a legacy through his life insurance policy, Parish became part of the Aspen Grove Society—a group of supporters committed to the future of Humber River Health Foundation. Parish’s generosity shows how personal experiences can inspire profound giving. His legacy not only honors his father’s memory but also aims to inspire others to consider a legacy gift, exploring the best way for them to make a lasting impact while continuing their annual support.
